Those people in the yoga advertisements looking perfectly zen sitting in lotus position next to a lotus flower? Good for them, but that’s not your life, is it? You have a cell phone, you have kids, you have noise in your life. But you also (we swear) have time to meditate. Join us for a weekly meditation you can incorporate into your life, anytime, anywhere.
You’ve got a bun in the oven, and you couldn’t be more thrilled. Until you realize that morning sickness can be all day…every day. It’s making you frustrated and very far away from revelling in the miracle of life.
Experts say stress is a contributor to pregnancy morning sickness. Try meditation to keep your head above water (and your food down). Meditation can also help in the delivery room, so what better time to connect to yourself and your baby than during your pregnancy?
The next time you feel a wave of nausea, make sure that you move yourself from any trigger smells. Once in a relatively scent-free place, sit down and close your eyes.
Place your hands on your belly. Try to breathe with your baby, through your belly. Feel the area rise and fall. Depending on which trimester you’re in, you may get quite a reaction!
After around ten breaths, breathe naturally. Trust in the process of your body, and develop a calm relationship with your baby. Already you’re working together, united in the process of growing.
Trust in the changes of your body and repeat a mantra for peace and joy. A good one is ‘Om’ but any long vowel sound that calls out to you will do.
Even in the womb, babies love the sound of their mother’s voice!
