Contrary to popular belief, summer does not end when school gets back into gear. There are still several weeks in September of glorious weather, long days and optimistic outlooks.
However, we can’t ignore that we live in a country where seasons happen. Autumn will come along, as it always does, and we will have to replace our flip-flops with shoes that actually cover our feet.
The key is in our outlook: in appreciating what is rather than what we are hoping for (like the fact that summer should last forever).
Gratitude is a fullness of the heart that moves us towards any change in life with confidence. Take a step outside (even if it is raining, you can step under an awning or umbrella).
Breathe in the air and the weather of that day through your nose. Is the air still slightly heavy from the last remains of summer? Is it deliciously crisp and cool?
Breathe and be grateful for the air that is filling your lungs and keeping you alive, season by season, day by day.
Feel the gratitude with every breath through the space of your heart. Have gratitude for this September and every September you have experienced before.
Have appreciation for the now. If you find that the autumn brings a frenetic energy that feels stressful, invite some space into your body and mind to help to maintain the attitude of summer.
Feel inspired by mother nature’s continuous evolution yet commitment to the present moment.
Copy her and breathe in gratitude as often as you can.
