Those people in the yoga advertisements looking perfectly zen sitting in lotus position next to a lotus flower? Good for them, but that’s not your life, is it? You have a cell phone, you have kids, you have noise in your life. But you also (we swear) have time to meditate. Join us for a weekly meditation you can incorporate into your life, anytime, anywhere.
Saboteur. The name sure is sexy and would make a good title for a television drama. However, in life it’s not so sexy to stand in your own way.
Even when we know better, sometimes we inexplicably and royally screw up. When you can’t figure out why you keep blocking yourself from relationships or procrastinating from moving forward in your career, turn to meditation. Sometimes a whole lot of nothing can get you somewhere.
Sit down and take a few moments to close your eyes, centre yourself and focus on elongating your spine. If you feel uncomfortable sitting on the floor, try elevating your hips by sitting on a cushion.
As you move into quiet, bring to mind an aspect of your personality that tends to get in the way. This may be stubbornness, envy, or distrust. It may not be pretty – don’t worry, it’s not supposed to be.
As you breathe steadily, allow yourself to retrace the beginning of this aspect of your personality.
When we find where the hurt began, we can finally start to heal and kiss the scars better.
Once you feel you have sufficiently explored where you began, sit and try to stop naming, labeling or judging yourself.
Surround your inner self with love and acceptance.
As you open your eyes, bring your growth forward and “be the change you want to see in the world.”
