Three cheers for food that fuels and keeps you going. Tuck into these raw eats to power your next outdoor adventure and add more zing in your day.
They say that good things come in small packages. Well prepare youselves, 'cause these little babies pack a powerful punch.
This snack is small, portable and ready to be packed wherever you go. And they’re so easy to make they pack-tically make themselves!
Makes about 20 small balls
Ingredients
Fresh, raw and organic ingredients are best!
1 cup seeds (sunflower, sesame, pumpkin or a combination)
½ cup rolled oats
1 cup dried fruit (raisins, fruit sweetened dried cranberries, goji berries or a combination)
1 cup nut butter (almond is our favourite, but other nut and seed butters work as will a combination of nut and seed butters)
1/4 cup raw honey
1/8 cup raw cacao powder or maca powder
option: if you like your snacks sweet, you could add a small handfull of chocolate chips or 1 cup coconut, dried unsweetened or toasted
Method
1. Mix everything except the coconut and form into small balls, using dry hands. If the mixture isn't sticking together you might need to add a wee bit more honey. Add honey by the teaspoonful until the mixture comes together.
2. Roll the balls in coconut.
3. Keep cool until ready to eat.
These last in the fridge or freezer, ready to be packed as needed.
