Vancouver City Connector and lover of all things yoga and wellness, Erin Urton, shares her craft: divine and decadent smoothie creative. Slurp your way towards vitality with these anything-but-ordinary, power-packed blender concoctions.
This is one power-trip you won't get any flack for.
I caught up with Adam Hart, author of The Power of Food, and asked him to share his most tasty and vital smoothie with us. Packed with superfoods like coconut milk, cashews, hemp and almonds, this smoothie has tons of calcium and magnesium to support bone health; omegas to support brain health; and, if you use raw cacao powder, a whole slough of anti-oxidants. This meal in a glass will power you right til' lunch - or you could have it for lunch!
Either way, get to it and enjoy!

Ingredients
Note: Makes 3 cups
Adam loves organic!
1 can organic coconut milk
1 cup water
1 banana
3 pitted dates - Soak your dates for 20 minutes in ½ cup of water.
2 Tbsp cocoa powder (we recommend raw cacao powder)
1 Tbsp almond butter
1/4 cup cashews
2 Tbsp hemp seeds
Dump all that goodness into your blender, including the date water, and blend until smooth. If it's too thick, add more water until you reach your desired consistency. Power to the people! Thanks Adam!

Erin Urton has her fingers deep in the world of heath and wellness, namely as a yoga teacher in Squamish, BC at the Yoga Studio Community Co-op. It was yoga that naturally led her to write and created the desire to help others find their own paths towards health. When she’s not networking up a storm, Erin is outside exploring mountains and forests as much as humanly possible.
