Yoga and wellness expert, Erin Urton, shares her craft: divine and decadent smoothie creative. Slurp your way towards vitality with these anything-but-ordinary, power-packed blender concoctions.
There's an autumn chill in the air and you might find that your belly is growling more often. One of the best ways to fill up is to increase your intake of healthy fats and protein. This week's omega-rich and protein-packed silky blend of nuts, seeds & fall figs will put your tummy right at ease (so you can avoid the dreaded "hangries").
Naturally sweet, figs are high in minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium & iron) and soluble fiber, plus they're full of antioxidants like Vitamins A, E & K. Walnuts, almonds and sesame seeds offer up unique flavour, a good dose of protein, and even more Cal-Mag. Last, a sprinkling of cinnamon helps control blood sugar and appetite.
This smoothie is so thick and satisfying it could definitely replace a small meal or support your appetite if you're spending a long day outside in the cool air. Bonus: all that calcium and magnesium is known to promote a good night's sleep!
