We're deep into a fabulous and HOT Canadian summer, and heat waves mean we need to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
This ultrahydrating blend is more of a drink than a smoothie, meant to douse and deluge your body from within. All you gotta do is whip up this simple but unique pineapple puree with cooling herbs, add some sparkling water and a fistfull of icecubes.
And for those late summer evenings when you're gathering with friends still sporting flip flops and tank tops, add an ounce of gin and turn this healthy drink into
happy hour heaven.
Ingredients
Organic all the way!
1 to 2 cups of fresh pineapple
2 to 3 large basil leaves
1 to 2 large mint leaves
Juice of half a small lemon
2 to 3 Tbsp of filtered water... or more, enough to make a thick puree of everything
(quantities can vary based on how much you like each ingredient)
Blend until smooth and a bit frothy.
Add this mixture to soda water or sparkling mineral water on ice in a 1:3 ratio (ex. half cup puree, 1.5 cups soda;or to make a big one, 1 cup puree to 3 cups soda). Don't forget about that optional splash of gin!
Patio time!
Puree can be stored to make muliple drinks. To make more - and you'll want to! - simply double the quantities.
