Vancouver City Connector and lover of all things yoga and wellness, Erin Urton, shares her craft: divine and decadent smoothie creative. Slurp your way towards vitality with these anything-but-ordinary, power-packed blender concoctions.
The most ubiquitous word in January has got to be 'detox'. And rightly so - we are post-party season after all.
So, if you're on one, it's your lucky day. This is one of my favourite detox support smoothies formulated to cleanse and enhance your digestive system. How? Pineapple, dark leafy greens, lemon and fibre-rich flax, that's how.
Pineapple is a great juicy fruit that adds water to your diet as well as a special digestion-promoting and anti-inflammatory enzyme called bromelain. It's specialty: tackling proteins and the tough stuff you put in your system. Kale adds a rich dose of oxygenating chlorophyll, lemon promotes liver function and flaxseed acts like a broom to sweep out your gut while absorbing toxins along they way.
Blend on friends.
Ingredients
Purge those pesticides and go organic!
1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks
Fistful of baby kale
Juice of 1/4 lemon
1 Tbsp groud flaxseed
1 cup filtered water, or as needed
Blend until smooth and pat yourself on the back for cleaning out the pipes. You're body will thank you for it.

Erin Urton has her fingers deep in the world of heath and wellness, namely as a yoga teacher, writer and budding marketing maven for conscious businesses. It was yoga that sparked her desire to help others find their own paths towards health. When she’s not networking up a storm or researching the latest health trends, Erin is outside exploring the mountains and forests as much as humanly possible.
