Chilled hibiscus tea is not only refreshing, it's packed with healthful properties. So brew some up because it's time for Healthy Happy Hour with the Hibiscus Refresher cocktail recipe.
Iced hibiscus tea has been serving as a thirst-quenching, heat-beating drink in Africa and the middle east for centuries. Belief in its health benefits have run the gamut of aiding in digestion to relieving anxiety and even treating diabetes.
While those remain to be scientifically tested, what we do know is that this tea brewed from dried flower pods has been proven to be good for maintaining healthy blood pressure and offers antioxidant benefits.
But enough about why it qualifies as a healthy cocktail, let's not forget that it's straight up delicious. Kris Osborne shows us how to mix up this ruby beauty and tops it all off with a cute little umbrella (why not be a little fancy, it's healthy happy hour!)
If you're on the hunt for honey simple syrup, it's a breeze to make. Simply mix 1 part honey to 1.5 parts water (for example, 1⁄2 cup of honey to 3⁄4 cup of water). Put the water and honey in a pot over low heat and stir until the honey dissolves and the syrup becomes uniform. You can make as much simple syrup as you like. For this recipe, you need 1 tablespoon for one drink.
Salute!
