We can't ignore the sad reality any more -- those inexpensive clothes are extracting a human price somewhere else. So, would you be willing to pay more for clothes that you can be assured have been ethically and environmentally produced?
Before you think this question is rhetorical, consider what would happen to the factories around the world that employ millions of people if the Western world stopped buying clothes from them? Without an existing global governing body to certify clothing as ethically made, how can you know for sure that what you're wearing is ethical?
Be honest, are you really thinking about the social footprint of an outfit while your considering it in the changing room mirror? And, what about people who can't afford to pay the premium of ethically made garments -- should they go shirtless? Is conscious clothing a luxury?
Not so cut and dried is it - that's why it's our Big Question. Don't let the conversation end here. Tell us what you think. Would you be willing to pay more?
