We make an effort to smell good sustainably, so why not do the same for our home? And the fact you can support a small grassroots business focusing on eco-friendly luxury… well, you can’t really go wrong.
In 2012, Phoster Candles started their “do good” mission making hand-crafted candles using 100 percent beeswax, cotton wicks, and ethnically-sourced essential oils. Their hypo-allergenic and non-toxic candles support eco-projects around the world by creating employment opportunities for those in poverty.
It gets even better: the folks at Phoster donate 50 percent of the profits from each candle line to non-profit organizations. Here’s an example: Their Freedom line, a lavender-lemon votive, donates to the Freedom Coalition, which works to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery. And their other lines? They focus on health education and bringing electricity to villages—quite a mighty feat for a candle (though Phoster’s handling this with ease).
Their “do good” attitude doesn’t just end at, well, doing good. The candles are darn fantastic, too, each with about 60 hours of burning time. If you’re scent-sensitive, you need not worry—they aren’t overpowering but provide just enough essence for a pleasant aroma… and the candle burns completely clean.
Plus, shop now as they have some limited holiday-inspired scents (think: Tannenbaum, Candy Cane, and Orange-Spice) on sale – get ‘em while you can.
