It took less than six months for Communitea Café to grow from a seed of an idea to a much-loved hotspot in the Canmore community.
That was back in 2007, and it’s still going strong.
A showroom of comfy furniture and funky lamps, Communitea’s refreshing, eclectic look and earthy, organic rhythm will make you feel like moving in. We invite you to curl up in a beanbag chair, peruse their assortment of handmade tea-cozies or play a nostalgic game of Guess Who.
The café’s lines of loose-leaf organic teas - try the fragrant Madagascar Vanilla Rooibos or sultry Iron Goddess Green Oolong - are served and delightfully brewed in bodums. If you’re a coffee lover, their Direct Trade Intelligentsia beans will win you over before you can say “large soy latté.”
For breakfast, come hungry. Go for the aptly named Big Breakfast “Ham It Up” Panini, complete with Valbella maple pepper ham (lighter options are also available!). Lunch just may have you flip-flopping between the Buddha Bowl and Mountain Veggie Wrap.
A bustling café by day, Communitea transforms at night into a live music hall that has featured an impressive playbill of artists. On top of it all, their commitment to “sustainabilitea,” namely through the elimination of paper cups and the creation of a green bike program, deserves a huge shout out!
We’re pretty sure you’ll be leaving, whenever you get around to it, with a smile on your face.
