Master field to feast cuisine without the risk of stepping in a cow pie.
Nestled between a string of colourful row houses on Charles Street is a North End gem that has proudly served up farm fresh Nova Scotia groceries since 2008.
Behind Local Source Market’s brick facade is a space bursting with local treasures. Free-range eggs and meat from local farms, cheeses, preserves, ciders and crisp seasonal fruits and veggies are just the beginning.
The seed that grew into Local Source was planted shortly after owner Sean Gallagher started a local organic sandwich bar in 2005. That became a catering enterprise, which has since evolved to include the market and an onsite bakery.
And what a bakery it is. Using only Maritime grown, stone ground, organic grains and cereals, they create mouthwatering—and beautiful—baked goods. Cakes, cookies, pies, quiches, Danishes and croissants are all made onsite.
Organic artisanal bread is also baked fresh daily, making this is a great spot to grab a plush panini for lunch. Or try a rich soup, crisp salad and a steamy mug of local, fair trade coffee.
Drop in on the way home to pick up your fresh groceries or dinner fixings like fresh beef Bolognese sauce, chicken potpie, cauliflower au gratin and chicken or pork stock.
With a little help from Local Source Market, anyone can play locavore gourmet.
