Vegans and the folks who love them go ape over The Wooden Monkey.
That’s in part because the menu has a bunch of inspired dishes for non-meat eaters while their carnivorous friends tuck into gourmet meat-based entrées.
‘The Monkey’—as it’s affectionately called—also offers a range of creative, tasty fare for those on vegan and gluten free diets.
Wooden plank floors, a stone fireplace and warm textured walls featuring vibrant local art make the ambience as comforting as the food.
The fish here is hook and line caught and the meat is local, free range and all natural. Most ingredients are locally sourced and organic. Even the beverages have their roots in Nova Scotia—local wine, beer, sodas and juices round out the drinks menu.
Vegans can—and do—indulge in The Monkey’s fiendishly good nachos. Layers of organic blue corn chips, jalapenos, olives, bell peppers, red onions—along with regular or vegan cheese—are served alongside tangy homemade salsa and sour cream.
The signature chocolate tofu pie is a must for all chocolate lovers. Richly decadent, it features non-dairy chocolate and organic silken tofu with an almond walnut crust and whipped cream. You won’t believe its tofu.
We’re sure y’all will go bananas.
