Halifax Yoga tosses the common stereotypes of yoga out the door with their philosophy that yoga is for everybody. Pair this with their favourite adage “you have to show up and suck before you can show up and shine” and you’ve got one studio worth joining.
The studio is large and open with room for many, many mats. Pale blue and green walls and well-placed windows set the stage for a challenging but rewarding practice.
Don’t know the difference between Hot Power Vinyasa Baptiste Style and Yin Yang Yoga? Fear not. With over 40 classes a week and offerings like Shake Your Asana, Hour of Power and Restorative Yoga, the gracious staff will guide you to the class that best suits your needs.
The studio also offers prenatal, mom and baby yoga, Vinyasa Flow and chair yoga for seniors. Parents can plop their kids in Little Pretzels and head into a Parent Pretzels class. They also offer a plethora of workshops and monthly 200-hour teacher training weekends, all advertised well in advance.
After getting bendy, give your muscles a break with a visit to the onsite registered massage therapist.
HY is also a committed leader in community and charity involvement both locally and beyond the borders of Canada. Real proof that they’re truly out to stretch the circle wider.
