Two words: chocolate bread.
Yeah, you heard us right—there is such a thing, and you can snag it at Okanagan Grocery Artisan Breads. Better still, this pint-sized gem’s big city European-style offerings are filled with organic, locally sourced yumminess. So even if you’re being naughty, you’re still being nice.
You have plenty of chances to be virtuous, though. Pick up one of their deliciously healthy Alpine Loaves, Country Baguettes or Potato Scallion Sourdough rounds. All breads are naturally leavened, preservative free and made with organic flour.
Heavenly goodies are filled with free-range eggs, organic sugar, organic nuts and local fruit. Choose from jams, granola, pain au chocolate, shortbread, tarts, brownies and to-die-for ginger cookies with that irresistible chewy-springy-melty texture. Perfection.
Everything is made onsite, which was quite a magic trick for the seven years that Okanagan Grocery was tucked away into a tiny corner of Guisachan Village. Now that Kelownites have discovered the bounty, they’ve opened a new production HQ to keep up with demand.
And we’re not the only fans of Okanagan Grocery and Artisan Breads. You may have even tasted their magic at some of the best restaurants around town, such as RauDZ, Grapevine at Gray Monk and Waterfront Wine Bar.
We know the best when we taste it. And that chocolate bread is genius.
