Come for the yoga, but stay for the cold lemongrass towels, the kajillion dollar downtown view of the marina, and Poppy, the adorable-yoga-mascot pooch. You won’t find ‘em anywhere else.
Welcome to The Hot Box, where Kelowna’s cool kids get their yoga on. Or sweat it out with the studio’s FIR system—Far Infrared Radiant heating technology. That’s space-age cool.
This studio has panache: instructors trained in Baptiste power yoga (including Yoga Pam) a wifi chillout lounge, and class schedules to seduce all hot yoga fanatics. And those lemongrass towels? Unrolling one across your forehead after sweating it all out in 105 degree heat feels (and smells!) better than water in the desert.
Besides regular power classes, the “Poser” class is for basics and correct alignment. The “Hipster” class focuses on opening the hips. “Lunchbox” offers a mid-day break from the desk. There’s even custom “Team Athletica” consultations—teams practice together and learn a specialized sequence that enhances performance.
The diverse offerings reflect the founders’ vision. When Sarah Wolter and Chris Bedford arrived from Calgary to open the studio in January 2012, they imagined creating a new community by reaching out to budding downtown yogi/nis. With the goal to revitalize Kelowna’s downtown core one downward dog at a time, The Hot Box offers special rates for downtown employees—especially underemployed service staffers—and participates in Small Shop Saturdays ($5 classes, oh yeah!)
Too cool, even at 105 degrees.
