‘Shri’ is a Sanskrit term often used as a title of veneration.
It seems Montreal’s newest yoga studio has thus been rightfully named because it certainly has earned our respect.
Shri Yoga is the city’s first studio dedicated to Anusara Inspired Yoga. It’s a variation of Hatha Yoga that unifies a specific set of alignment principles with the tantric philosophy that all beings and situations are inherently good.
Founded by Barrie Risman and Mona Keddy - two teachers who have trained under the guidance of Anusara founder John Friend - the studio operates on three guiding principles: gather, practice, grow. In a nutshell, the power of community facilitates the awakening process, the practice of Anusara empowers you to find the best within yourself and dedicated commitment inspires positive change.
Shri’s beautifully bright, airy studio rooms illuminate your path to self-discovery. An abundance of windows lets the sun shine in and compels you to face those yoga poses with a grin.
Classes are uniquely designed to cater to all levels. Novices can dip their toes in the Awakening & Empowering series, intermediate students can dive into Expanding your Practice or Refining & Deepening and more seasoned yogis can test the waters with Deep Play. For those who feel strongly about this life-affirming yoga form, teacher-training courses are also available.
Awe-some.
