Sweet delivery! Of a fresh, scrumptious, local and organic box of baby leeks, asparagus, spinach or bok choy. Perhaps some strawberries or rhubarb as well.
It’s your choice.
You could also add some local and certified organic meat or other stuff like biodegradable food waste bags or perhaps some quinoa macaroni. Sunchokes, anyone? You may know them as Jerusalem artichokes - low in calories, high in fibre and de-lish.
What could be easier than having a basket of goodies on your doorstep just waiting for you weekly, every two, three, or four weeks – whatever you like. Order online and no commitment is needed. That’s the way Front Door Organics operates and with more than 800 deliveries a week, plenty of Torontonians are hooked.
It wasn’t always so. Owner Angela Donnelly remembers when she started her business. She delivered to just six homes back in 1997. But dedication to freshness and quality have garnered the company not only more and more satisfied customers but the 2010 Organic Council of Ontario Award for Outstanding Direct To Consumer Operation.
Co-owner and musician JJ Sheppard joined FDO along the way. She didn’t really mean to when she began working there as a driver. It was just a way to supplement her musical earnings. But this long-time vegetarian and environmentalist felt it was the right choice for her. She still toots her horn around town though.
We’re happy to toot their horn too.
