Raw, raw, stomp, stom, clap.
Rawlicious’ flavourful entrees will have you jumping up and cheering before you can say ‘where’s the oven?’
Buckwheat crust pizza, kelp noodle Pad Thai, and meatless taco wraps are just a few of the seductive selections on this strictly vegan menu. Plus, most things on the menu are organic and as for wheat, gluten and refined sugar, well, they aren’t welcome.
The focus is healthy, not hot - so don’t bother looking for a stove. Nothing is heated over 118F, allowing food to preserve its natural enzymes, vitamins and minerals. Food is prepared through dehydration, warming, mixing, and marinating. It takes a lot of hard work to make uncooked food look and taste like its cooked counterpart.
Pasta made from zucchini tastes surprisingly similar to the real thing. The nacho platter has so much going on (guacamole, olives, salsa, hot banana peppers) that the absence of meat (or cooking) goes unnoticed. Come hungry and don’t expect to wait long – another bonus of not cooking the food.
Business partners Chelsea and Angus founded Rawlicious in 2008 in an effort to make raw food more accessible. Visitors can expect to enjoy flavourful dishes served in a welcoming setting. As a bonus, the restaurant is environmentally conscious - all packaging, cleaning products, paper towels and toilet paper are biodegradable.
That’s a lot of reasons to start shake your pom-poms.
