Aphrodite - the goddess of love, beauty and organic pie.
Aphrodite's is known citywide as a beacon for good-for-you, organic and sustainable eats. Opened in 2002 by the current owner's father, the cafe started out simply making organic pies.
After quick success, they opened an adjacent restaurant, expanding their offerings to include brunch, lunch and dinner made with the same farm-fresh, organic ingredients. The cafe works directly with local organic farmers to bring fresh, healthy food to hungry and health-conscious Vancouverites.
Located in laid-back Kitsilano, the cafe is cozy, eclectic, and usually bustling with happy diners. It's a mix of wooden furniture, colourful paintings on the wall, and even paper mache characters dangling from the ceiling.
If you're going for a sit-down meal, try the Salt Spring Frittata with spinach, caramelized onions, cherry tomatoes and feta. Or dig into the Wild Mushroom Quiche, Roma Basil Brie Melt or the gluten-free Eggs Benedict. Count on large portions, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere.
Their tender, brimming pies include chocolate pecan, cherry, strawberry rhubarb and pumpkin, just to name a few. If you've got a special diet or food sensitivity, you'll be delighted to know they cater to your needs. You'll find a large selection of vegan wheat and gluten-free pies and meals. Vegetarians, vegans and meat lovers will all find something to savour here.
Embrace your inner love deity by giving in to sweet, organic temptation.
And make sure you save some room for pie.
