There are a few things in life that inevitably bring out
our inner kid.
Blowing bubbles. Lego blocks. Ice-cream sprinkles. The three-legged race.
If your style of exercise is more giggles than grind, or you’re looking for a way to laugh until you pee yourself a little (you wouldn’t be the first) then you’re going to
love Montreal’s new
favourite fitness joint.
iSaute Trampoline Park (the first of its kind in Quebec), opened its first location in Laval last year and is now expanding to bring the bouncy madness to three more locations around Montreal. The original centre is a 20,000-foot square warehouse covered in floor-level padded trampolines and the team is ready to wow you with one of those rare activities that is genuinely fun for everyone from toddlers to grandparents.
iSaute has a number of different activity areas, all connected by those ridiculously bouncy “floors”. You can finally master that slam dunk in the basketball area, whack unsuspecting rivals in the dodge ball court, or practice your tightrope skills over a wonderfully squishy pit of foam cubes.
If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at some of those Olympic gymnast moves, there are 3 “runways” where you can do somersault and backflip practice with the safety of a foam pit at the end, for when you land on your head, as you will. (Embrace it, it’s one of the few times landing on your head actually might make an activity more enjoyable.)
You can drop in any time, or plan on a totally off-the-wall date on Friday or Saturday nights at “ClubJump”, when they lower the lights, turn up the music, and reserve the park for those over 16. We definitely recommend you think about your timing - turn up on a cold weekend morning and you may end up dodging a hundred excitable eight-year-olds!
Ok, so what if you like the idea of the giggles but are also
serious about getting fit? Well, soon you’ll be able to join their brand new iFitness programs - a combination of crossfit, cardio and trampoline (you’ll be so distracted trying to stay on your feet you won’t even notice the fact that you’re burning 700-1000 calories per session).
Needless to say, this is an unbeatable activity for kids, but it’s
just as fun for the young-at-heart, and definitely a good way to shake off the winter blahs. And for $14 per session, it’s far cheaper than both a therapist and a personal trainer - neither of which you’ll need if you take in your regular dose of trampolining.
