Have
nowhere to go, nothing to do? Or are you just dreaming of being in a place where the WiFi connection is weak and the soundscape of the ocean waves is strong?
First step: turn off your phone.
Second step: transform a place in your home. It can be a corner or it can be a room. Ensure that it is clean and vibrant
and soul-affirming. It may be the presence of a candle and the absence of dust. If you see the markers of work, like a vacuum cleaner or a computer, it may spur you to the enemy of relaxation: efficiency.
Now,
download some sounds that make your heart sing. It could be ocean waves. It could be birds singing (Songza has these playlists). It could be a mantra meditation. Make a playlist for the amount of time you have to give yourself.
Sit or lie down and bliss out.
Listen with your whole body and mind.
Let the sound wash over you and renew you, cell by cell, moment by moment.
When your staycation has come to an end, smile and thank yourself. You can always make more time for your joy and less time for your to-do list. Give yourself permission to be.
