You wake up and your commute is longer than usual. Then the coffee line is too long and you don’t have time to grab a cup. By the time someone asks you the neutral question, “How are you?” they might as well take cover.
Hello, my name is Grumpy. It’s not a pleasure to meet you.
If you have a case of the grumps, you don’t have to wait until the following day to do something about it. In fact, you have the power to change your mood, affect your thoughts and turn around your day.
Whoa.
Take a moment with yourself, even if you have to go to the bathroom to do so.
Close your eyes. Notice where the grump is within your body. If it is completely dispersed, you may need a little more time. In most cases, you will find it has a
physical location. In the future, Google Maps may be able to find it.
As you seek out that grumpy spot, take a moment to acknowledge it. Like anything else in life, your inner grump just wants to feel valued.
See if you can
sit with the feeling for a few minutes. In most cases, that grumpiness will lift, allowing you to do something as
unexpected as smiling.
Get back to your day. Retrace your steps. Let your inner light shine.
