We all have those moments when our mind-body connection is not as strong as we’d like it to be.
Maybe you missed a great golf shot. Maybe you fell directly on your forehead rather than soaring in crow pose.
Maybe you’re feeling pain and not healing as quickly as you would like to.
If you need to put a little mind into your body, this is the meditation for you.
Close your eyes and before you get started, notice your inner dialogue. Are you frustrated? Impatient? One of the main tools of mindfulness is to recognize where you are in the moment. Don’t rush to change your experience.
Take the time to feel your hands. Maybe even get rid of any association of what your hands look like.
Just feel if there is any sensation. It could be the feeling of warmth as your attention settles there. It could be tingling.
Without expectation or assumption, notice what is there.
Whatever you do find,
see if you can find that sensation in any other areas of your body. Maybe it will be easy to scan down the arms first, but the feet can also be charged with feeling.
Don’t try to intellectualize it. Just feel it. Feel the amazing energy that surrounds and is within your body.
Everything we take into our body has an electrical charge and the chemical reactions between different atoms and molecules within the body are changing constantly. It’s amazing!
When you feel sufficiently charged, open your eyes. Even if your body hasn’t perfectly responded to what you wanted it to do, it is still pretty remarkable.
