Although
social media may have you believing otherwise, you’re not the only one out there who has doubts.
Let’s consider what the character Pi says in The Life of Pi: “Doubt is useful, it keeps faith a living thing. After all, you cannot know the strength of your faith until it is tested.”
But… if you need to harness your inner Thomas the Tank Engine, it’s time to meditate.
Inner doubt can manifest itself in many ways and one of those ways is
with your posture. If your body is slumped and your head is hanging, there’s less of a chance for you to transform your mood.
Start by picking yourself up.
Sit up in a tall way that isn’t rigid or stiff.
Find the natural length of your spine.
Allow your body to reflect a feeling of inner confidence (even if you don’t feel it yet).
Take a few deep breaths, sitting restfully. Allow yourself to relax away from your inner dialogue.
Then introduce the mantra “zaknomi.” This roughly translates to “I can”
in Sanskrit. Of course, you can say it in any language that you want.
Let it reverberate in your bones. You might need to say it a lot if you’re feeling particularly doubtful.
