January is coming to a close, but why let the detox end here?
With little effort, adding a few more servings of brassicas to your diet – like broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and cabbage – will help to support the body’s natural detoxification process.
Ridding the body of toxins is essential in supporting overall feelings of wellness, but it cannot be overstated how significant this process is to disease prevention.
The brassicas are no stranger to this game. Held in high-esteem for their arsenal of vitamins, minerals, and
phytonutrients, they lead the charge in whole-food, and whole-body support. Liven up these broccoli trees with a little orange miso dipping sauce and you may find yourself being more of a tree-hugger than you originally thought.
Roasted Broccoli “Trees” with Orange Miso Dipping Sauce
2 heads of broccoli, cut into florets
1-2 Tbsp grape seed oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Orange Miso Dipping Sauce
¼ cup + 2 Tbsp hot water
2 Tbsp orange juice
½ tsp rice vinegar
¼ tsp honey
¼ tsp salt
1 scallion, thinly sliced (green part only)
Preheat the oven to 425F and coat one or two large baking trays with the grape seed oil. Place the broccoli onto the pan, making sure it’s not overlapping, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until tender-crisp and slightly charred.
Meanwhile, whisk the miso and hot water together. Add in the orange juice, rice vinegar, honey, and salt, and whisk again until combined. Top with thinly sliced scallion. Serve with the roasted broccoli.
