I wouldn’t be an
import Vancouverite if I didn’t practice a lot of yoga. And run.
And hike. And talk about all of the above with most people I know.
The first thing I noticed was how many compliments I got on my tights. With a market oversaturated with ahem – one particular brand – my girlfriends (who happen to have extremely discerning eyes when it comes to workout gear) adored them. Like: “Hey! Great to see… wait… what are those tights?! I love them!”
I speak the truth.
You feel like a bit of a trailblazer around here if you find yourself a pair of tights different from what every other girl in a power vinyasa class. But you have to be careful – I’ve ventured into new yoga brand territory in the past with the hopes of diversifying my yoga gear portfolio – only to be very disappointed. Premature holes in crotches and unflattering squeezes were just the beginning.
It was not the case with my
Under Armour gear. In fact, I’m a convert.
Here are the specs I most liked in my Studio Tight capris:
- Four-way stretch that keeps things lookin’ nice and smooth while allowing glorious range of movement keeping your trikonasana perfectly supported.
- The length of capris hit my calf at the right spot despite my lengthy legs. And what’s more, there was no sliding or riding in sight.
- Flat seams make for complimentary lines (in fact I got some actual compliments on this very thing).
- Cute subtle pattern and colour that make them a little more fun and fresh.
And my favourite features in the Rave N’ Flow tank:
- Drawstring, drawstring, drawstring. This drawstring works to tighten the tank at the waist to keep from baring your belly in headstand. But it’s not just any drawstring – it smoothly readjusts to tighten/un-tighten as many times as you like. Hallelujah.
- A built-in-bra that’s not just for show. Things were nice and secure in there.
So, perhaps this comes as no surprise – but it’s now confirmed in my mind:
Under Armour knows what they’re doing in construction of yoga gear. It’s sturdy, supportive stuff and I want more of it.
While writing this very article I looked longingly through the new arrivals section of their site. All in good time.
