Vancouverites are famous for talking incessantly about the weather, the healthy stuff we’re eating and what we’re training for. With the weather cooling and the seawall getting slippery, training sessions turn a little more indoors.
Here are four hot new-ish spots for you to keep your sweat on
this winter.
1. Ride Cycle Club: Stepping in to a class here is akin to stumbling into a super-cool, underground, secret spin society. A pitch-dark cycle room jammed with muscled limbs pumping to irresistibly motivating club-y tunes, Ride Cycle is raw with basic (yet clean and comfortable) amenities. It’s making spin the cool thing to do.
2. Stretch Yoga Studio: Bringing yoga into the heart of Chinatown, this new studio just opened its door on December 20
th. Follow
their Facebook page to keep your eye out and be among the first students to grace their halls. With a schedule full of favourite instructors, it’s sure to be a new go-to spot.
3. Eastwood Cycle: Right next to a favourite tuji landmark, One Yoga for the People, EastWood Cycle rounds out what is becoming a destination sweat strip along Hastings Street. With its expansive entry, change room area, gorgeous decor and (ahem) cool eucalyptus towels post-cycle sesh, EastWood deserves its designation as ‘Sanctuary’.
4. Distrikt Movement: A sweet sweaty offering of movement styles ranging from dance to yoga to HIIT (and sometimes in one class!) brought to you by adored Vancouverite yoga instructor
Alex Mazerolle, and Boxing, Martial Art, Cross-Fit sensation, Jian Pablico. The Distrikt, perched in the district of North Van makes the ultimate destination sweat spot, worth a drive over the bridge.
