We all know the Big Apple is the best apple (hello
momofuko and Adrien Brody). But NYC is also seriously killing it on the yoga scene and luckily for Montreal, Geneviève Guérard and Erik Giasson got seriously inspired by Kula Yoga Project N.Y. and brought it North of the border for us yogis to enjoy.
Le Studio De Yoga Wanderlust serves up a style of Vinyasa that’s nothing like we’ve seen before, and it’s fantastic. Not only is the type of Vinyasa different, but it varies with each class and instructor. It’s flowy, it’s groovy, and the music is awesome (they even bring live music into some of their classes)! The marriage between music and yoga is considered foundational to their studio, and frankly, they’re hitting the right notes.
Their signature class, Le Studio, is similar to Vinyasa, though it focuses on rhythm, creativity, and alignment. If you’re
a free-styler, there’s room for that; and if you’re more a follow-the leader-type, you’re good too. Other styles include, Studio 1: A more accessible version of Le Studio, Honey Studio 1: 60 minutes of Studio 1 Vinyasa and 30 minutes of Restorative/Yin yoga (seriously, something for everyone!) and a helluva lot more.
The lovely individuals at Wanderlust are hugely into
accessibility within the community, as shown through programs like their $5 Studio 1 class. $5 yoga? You bet your bottom dollar we’re there.
But the accessibility does not stop there - they teach classes in French, English, as well as bilingual classes. They also hold a beginner's series for the month of February where all the basics are laid down week by week.
If you’re in NYC and are able to check out the
Kula Yoga Project N.Y. studios where they have their own yoga teacher training in the works, do it. In the mean time, Geneviève Guérard and Erik Giasson have brought NYC to MTL, and tujis, you’ll never go back.
