When it comes to fresh food, Pete Luckett delivers.
In 2004 the British expat expanded his successful business from the suburb of Bedford into Halifax. Conveniently located off Spring Garden Road, his bustling downtown green grocery offers a dizzying array of choices.
Pete’s is bright, airy and well laid out. Colourful arrangements of plump, ripe, high quality fruits and veggies (including an organic section) fill their bins while cases of gourmet cheeses and desserts vie for your attention.
Pete’s high quality fruits and vegetables are locally sourced whenever possible and this is also the place to find unusual foreign offerings. Depending on availability, rambutan, dragonfruit, feijoas and breadfruit are a sampling of Pete’s exotic and fresh temptations. The global grocery section is also bursting with an array of international bottled and packaged foods.
When pressed for time, the butcher’s station has items like marinated stuffed chicken and other oven-ready meats (including kebabs). And if you’ve got questions, the butcher and fishmongers work closely with suppliers and are bursting with tips and ideas.
With a mall entrance in City Centre Atlantic and another off Dresden Row, you’ll have no trouble getting in.
Leaving empty handed might prove more difficult.
