Time to get spicy.
East is East is a bewitching blend of healthy, flavour-filled food.
Grab a cozy corner in this rustic, low-lit cafe. It's been impressing hungry adventurers for over a decade with a delicious blend of Eastern flavours from the ancient Silk Road. East is East offers a tasty mash-up of Mongolia, India, Tibet, Persia and Turkey.
Made to look like Middle Eastern dhabbas, the cafes (one on the East side, two on the West) are strewn with kilim and Persian rugs, sprawl-worthy pillow-covered benches and uniquely carved wooden tables. In the evenings, there's usually live music (sitar, flamenco) and maybe even some belly dancing.
Don't miss the Silk Route Feast, their signature tasting menu, which is served with two dishes of your choice, plus dhal soup, boulani, roti, garlic pickle, two types of rice and organic salad. The food isn't fire alarm spicy but has rich and diverse flavours that will taste new to most pallets.
Its West side location has a small eatery upstairs called Silk N' Spice. The menu at is organic and Ayurvedic, a 5,000-year-old holistic nutrition practice that emphasizes food that encourages balance.
If you've got food allergies or other diet restrictions, they've got a variety of vegan and gluten-free options. Prefer your meal to go?
