Gut Healer Smoothie is brought to you by Vegan Proteins+ by Genuine Health
Feeling stressed, busy beyond belief, with no time or motivation to eat properly? Stop, take a deep breath and drink this.
This blended recipe for what Chinese medicine and Ayurveda call “Golden Milk” does the trick to ease stress and it’s associated effects on digestion. I’ve tried tons of recipes floating around the internet and have adapted one that works for me. It’s mainly based on tuja advisor Melissa Ramo’s recipe, with some tweaks to proportions and a little of my own flare.
Filling, fibrous and fantastic – whole almonds, hemp seed, and coconut oil provide fiber, protein, and omegas. Dates add even more fiber and some mineral-rich sweetness. Turmeric is a veritable cure-all with its super anti-inflammatory powers. Ginger stimulates digestion, circulation and calms the nerves. Cinnamon helps balance blood sugar, curb cravings and also settles the nerves.
Now count to 10 and blend your way to zen.
Gut Healer Smoothie Ingredients
You’re golden with organic.
- 1/3 cup raw almonds, soaked
- 1 tsp hemp hearts
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp ginger powder
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 3 large Medjool dates
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 1/2 cups filtered water (or more if needed)
note: if you don’t have a powerful blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec, simply use ready-made almond milk in place of blending the almonds whole. You miss out on a little fiber, but that’s cool.
Blend on high for at least a minute. If you’re using a Vitamix, start slow and build to high. Melissa heats hers afterward but if you leave it long enough in the Vitamix, it gets a little warm. Enjoy at room temperature or steamy.
