You know those times. When your friend is talking about her horrible boyfriend. You nod and appear to be listening, but you’re thinking, “Leave him already!”
Or you’re speaking to your boss about an idea that you know through experience won’t work, yet you have to let her work it out on your own. So you stifle your opinion, and you shut up.
Of course, straight truth is needed in most circumstances. But, blurting it out is not optimal in every situation to keep your relationships thriving (and your job!).
If you know you’ll be meeting someone who makes you itch to interfere, take a moment before your encounter with this throat-chakra meditation.
The goal is to connect with our throat chakra, our centre of clear communication. This chakra also helps us to govern when it’s appropriate to speak.
Let’s begin.
Sit in a comfortable space.
Quietly to yourself, repeat the mantra “Om Janaha.” This mantra is related to the throat chakra.
If you become bothered by sounds or distracted by thoughts, just bring yourself back to this mental repetition.
Set a timer for at least 10 minutes. When it goes off, release the mantra and gently open your eyes.
Go forward with your encounter to interfere less and listen more.
Go to speak the truth and trust that the person will find their truth in their own time.
