Sesame seeds, the star ingredient, add a toasty flavour and crunch plus a generous dose of copper, manganese, and calcium—a mineral we can’t say enough about!
Important for basic bodily functions like muscle contraction, seamless nerve function, and the release of hormones – what we mean is, you need it – calcium has also been shown to help prevent colon cancer, bone loss as a result of conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and menopause, and those horrible migraine headaches. And, to our lady friends out there, it can even help to reduce PMS symptoms!
No pill popping needed; for some seriously proper nutrition, just munch on these nutrient-dense bites.
2-Bite Sesame Snap Protein Balls
Notes: For the best flavour and crunch, be sure to buy toasted sesame seeds or toast your own in a dry skillet over med-low heat until golden brown and fragrant.
Ingredients
- ½ cup of your favourite almond butter
- 3 Tbsp raw honey
- ½ cup oats
- 2 Tbsp raw or toasted, shelled sunflower seeds
- 2 Tbsp hemp hearts
- 3 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- Pinch of sea salt
Method
Combine all of the ingredients together in a medium bowl.
Stir with a spatula until the seeds are spread throughout. If the mixture is too wet, add in another tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds. If the mixture is too dry, add in another tablespoon of almond butter.
Roll into balls the size of a tablespoon and put into the fridge to chill for a couple of hours. This will help the mixture to set better.
