Does the summer already feel like it’s going by too fast?
When you were a kid, summer stretched out. As an adult, it’s not too late to make this your best summer yet! After all, before you know it, the kids will be back to school, and those summer dresses will head to the back of the closet for a long winter.
These five-steps will guarantee you a hot summer (and we’re not talking about the weather!).
Step 1: Make this the summer of a lifetime with action.
Commit to only doing things that excite you, move you, and maybe even scare you a little. Start saying no to mundane activities or sunny afternoons spent on the couch watching Tiger King. Taking small actions consistently amounts to great things!
Step 2: Travel (if even close to home).
Getting on a plane is pretty much on hold for travel this year. Being a tourist in your own city can free you from your routine. Put it in your schedule! Even if you don’t have a clear plan, book a weekend or even a few weeks off.
Clients often tell me that they don’t have enough time to travel. Once I coach them to choose dates and book it off, they suddenly get into gear and make things happen. Most of their fondest memories were created during their travels (and this can be true for you, too!).
Step 3: Reconnect with old friends.
During the cold winter, we stay bundled up inside. Even our friendships seem to freeze. Summer is a great time to plan a picnic in the park, try stand up paddleboarding, and catch up with those who love us. You can use Step 2 to reconnect by finding a terrace in a new neighbourhood or plan a camping trip with your gals.
Step 4: Have some YOU time.
If it’s busy season for your husband and the kids are at summer camp, this might be the perfect opportunity for you to reset. You can have the adventure of a lifetime even if you’re doing it alone. If it makes you nervous, just start somewhere.
Take one afternoon to explore your city on your bike or treat yourself to a weekend at the spa. If you want this to be your best summer, facing your fears is part of it. As long as you are doing little things, the overall result will be significant!
Step 5: Shake what your mama gave you.
You might feel self-conscious about your body, but wearing black pants under the hot sun is torture. You will never be younger than you are right now, and you are more beautiful than you think. Choose to love yourself, and if all else fails, dance your butt off at a park or on the beach with some tunes in the background.
Implement these five steps, and I guarantee you a summer that will keep you glowing all year round. Set the intention. Wander. Connect. Do something that makes you nervous.
And remember that the only person you should ever be is you!
