Swim. Bike. Run. Whether triathlon is on your bucket list or off your radar, we bet today’s podcast will have you pumped to try a tri (like, this summer).
It’s no surprise that triathlon scares people. After all, it is three strenuous sports rolled in to one. Yikes! But tuja advisors, Kevin Becker and Katherine Calder-Becker want to take the fear, intimidation and self-doubt out of the equation so more people will fall in love with triathlon, just like they did.
In this podcast, host Tim Wohlberg shares an embarrassing story about his first triathlon, but that’s beside the point because despite that, the enthusiasm of these two ultra-triathletes has him ready to give it another go (almost). Kevin & Kat know that there are a million reasons why newbies talk themselves out of the sport: fitness level, limited time, lack of know-how; it took them until they were over 40 to jump in, so they know the excuses.
Luckily, now that they’ve done it, they have way more reasons why it’s worth a try. They’ll woo you with tales of self-satisfaction, super-fun experiences, an amazingly supportive community and the phenomenal health benefits of cross training in three endurance sports. They’ll show you that it’s not just a sport for the super fit and will share some tips to make sure that training for your first triathlon race isn’t too daunting (spoiler alert: it may involve friends!)
You may not be signing up for the Ironman, but after this podcast you’ll be pumped to take on a nice (short) local triathlon. And if their story is any indication, it will be the start of a beautiful and healthy habit.
